Proper functioning of any joint/muscle complex requires optimum ranges of motion (movement) and appropriate muscular activity for the task at hand.  Often times a dysfunctional region (neck/lower back/hips/shoulders) will exhibit: pain, loss of proper movement and muscles that are overly tight and others that are weak and lack endurance & coordination to stabilize the region.

An extremely common postural strain is prolonged sitting and hunching forward, which places great demands on the muscle and joint systems that can result in pain & dysfunction.

Utilizing a foam roller to mobilize restricted joints and release overly tight muscles is an excellent self-help treatment method.  Today we will focus on the most common dysfunction= lack of Thoracic Spine extension.

Please view the following link to instruct yourself on proper thoracic spine mobilization thru use of a foam roller.
