Services and Treatments

Because multiple factors are involved in most musculoskeletal symptoms, the chiropractors at Duluth Chiropractic Clinic focus on the following forms of treatment:

Chiropractic Adjustments: Often referred to as spinal joint manipulations, this manual technique restores movement to joints that are restricted in various ranges of motion. If a joint is restricted in movement, pain and dysfunction result. Our doctors carefully assess and identify abnormal movement patterns and attempt to restore normal motion. This usually results in immediate pain relief and allows the body to heal the injured area properly.

Soft Tissue Therapies: Rarely is a musculoskeletal pain just a joint or just a muscle issue. It is usually a combination of both and because of this the chiropractors at Duluth Chiropractic Clinic will always address both issues. We utilize numerous muscle techniques for overactive or hypertonic muscles including: deep tissue massage, cross-frictional massage, myofascial release, Graston Technique, post-isometric relaxation, neuromuscular re-education and kinesiotaping.

Rehabilitation/Exercise: Our doctors have taken extensive postgraduate training in screening for muscular weakness and imbalance. We can provide you with a customized “injury-specific” protocol that will rehabilitate your neck, back, or extremity dysfunction. We utilize Phases Rehabilitation Software to provide you a handout for self-care if you so choose. So whether your body displays tightness or weakness or both, we will address any dysfunctional patterns to promote optimum performance.

Massage Therapy:  Sometimes the stress and strain on your muscles is so much that the use of massage therapy is needed to help with physical and emotional management.  It is a natural approach to increasing blood circulation, reducing swelling, relaxing muscles, relieving muscle pain and fatigue, and aiding in recovery and range of motion. Duluth Chiropractic Clinic has a certified massage therapist that works hand in hand with each doctor to co-manage and develop a treatment plan that is tailored to meet the client’s condition and injury. Postural/Gait and Running Analysis: Our doctors are trained to view the body statically(at rest) and dynamically(movement) to detect any abnormal or inefficient movement patterns. Dr Sundberg has given dozens of presentations on running form and injury prevention and often does running analyses for his patients at DCC and also at Duluth Running Company. Often the cause of a runner’s pain is due to their running form and simple adjustments can relieve the physical stress that is injuring a particular muscle. Running analyses done at DCC are performed outside, so please bring your running shoes and appropriate outdoor active clothing if you would like a running analysis to be part of your evaluation. Advance notice is required if you want a running analysis, so please let the staff know when you contact our office.

Therapies/Nutrition: Our doctors attend nutritional workshops and seminars to stay aware of the latest nutritional approaches to not only promote wellness and health, but also treat disease, pain and inflammation with non-drug approaches. Vitamin D3 and Omega 3 Fish Oil are utilized often for pain and inflammation in addition to Pain-Eze

. We also utilize traditional therapies like: ultrasound, electric stimulation, hot/cold pack applications and biofreeze.

Lifestyle/Wellness Coaching: The decisions we make each day in regards to what we do with our body, what we put into our body and how we handle stress all are directly related to how we feel. In your initial history you will answer questions about diet, exercise and stress levels. If our chiropractors determine that these are factors in the symptoms you’re experiencing, they will discuss this with you and offer suggestions on modifications that will allow you to feel better and improve your overall health.

If you have any questions or comments about our practice, please contact us. We look forward to serving you.
