A common pattern of muscle imbalance that is seen with chronic neck pain and headaches is the following:

Overactive Muscles: Upper Trapezius,Pectorals (these muscle groups need stretching).

Underactive/Weak Muscle: Deep Neck Flexors, Lower Trapezius, Serratus Anterior (these muscle groups need strengthening).
